Craniosacral therapy for SEND children

Children with special educational needs and disabilities often experience the world with heightened sensitivity. Their nervous systems work hard, sometimes staying stuck in a state of alert or overwhelm. Craniosacral therapy offers a quiet, undemanding kind of support — a place where there is nothing to perform and nothing to get right.

How it helps

A different kind of change, one that begins with safety.

Calm

Settle sensory overwhelm

Sessions help an over-stretched nervous system downshift, which can bring a visible softening in children who are often 'wound up'.

Regulate

Support emotional regulation

A more settled baseline can make meltdowns less frequent and recovery quicker.

Ease

Release held tension

Children who hold their bodies tightly — in the jaw, hands or pelvis — often release this gently during and after treatment.

You may recognise

If any of this feels familiar, this work is for you.

  • Sensory overload or difficulty filtering stimulation
  • Frequent meltdowns or difficulty self-regulating
  • Tight, held or rigid patterns in the body
  • Sleep that is restless or hard to come by
  • Anxiety or hypervigilance in everyday situations
  • Recovery from medical procedures or hospital stays

What to expect

Gentle, fully clothed, and led entirely by you.

There is no requirement to lie still or follow instructions. Children can move, play or be held by a parent throughout. The work meets your child exactly where they are, and sessions are paced around their comfort. Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay close.

You don't have to carry this alone.

Your first step doesn't need to be dramatic. It can begin with a quiet, pressure-free conversation.
